Need a Half Size? Simply Size Up.
Z-CoiL doesn’t make half sizes, but every pair includes a 3mm insert to fine-tune the fit. Just order the next whole size up (e.g., if you wear 8.5, order 9) and use the insert for a snug, perfect fit.
Z-CoiL Footwear generally runs true to size. Please order the size you normally wear. If you wear a half size, we recommend ordering the next size up.

Adjusting for Half Sizes
Follow the instructions below to adjust the half sizes. Z-CoiL does not manufacture half sizes. However, every pair includes a 3mm insert to adjust the fit. If you are between sizes, follow these steps:
1. Remove the Insole: Take out the Z-CoiL insole from the shoe.
2. Insert the 3mm Half-Size Insert: Place the insert inside the shoe where the insole was.
3. Reinsert the Insole: Put the insole back on top of the insert.
This adjustment helps achieve the perfect fit for half sizes.
Spring Strength Guide
Z-CoiL shoes come with four different spring strengths, predetermined by shoe size. While most customers find the factory settings ideal, some may need adjustments based on their weight or walking/running style.
Spring Strength Recommendations:
- Small Spring: Women's sizes 5-7 (up to 150 lbs)
- Medium Spring: Women's sizes 8-11, Men's sizes 8-9 (120-200 lbs)
- Large Spring: Men's sizes 10-13 (160-240 lbs)
- XL Spring: Men's size 14+ (220 lbs+)
Tip: Aim to compress the spring about 75% during normal walking. If you "bottom out" (fully compress the spring), consider a stronger spring. If the shoe feels too stiff, you may prefer a softer coil.
Requesting a Stiffer Coil: If you prefer a softer or stiffer coil, please add a note to your order at checkout. We will gladly exchange the coil to suit your needs better.

All Z-CoiL shoes are designed with a wider toe box to reduce irritation in the toes and ball of the foot.

- D Width (Wide): Available in the Freedom, Legend (all), Olivia, Sofia, Toffler, and styles.
- E Width (Extra Wide): Available in the Outback, Prime, and Sidewinder styles.
Choose the width that provides the most comfort and accommodates your foot shape.

Great shoes
This is my 5th or 6th pair of Z-CoiLs, but my first with covered heels. I prefer the look of open heels, however, these will be much safer as I have hung the open coils on water hoses, bar stools, etc. I am 80; probably when I started wearing Z-CoiLs. I purchased them after a bout of plantar fasciitis and fixed that. I wear them when we walk am & pm or if I plan on a full day of walking, car shows, a day of estate sales, etc. but I dance in heels, not the tall ones anymore lol
Women sandals for men
I love my ZCoils. However men’s sandals are not available so I got women’s to try. They’re ok but don’t fit as good as my ZCoil shoes.

Great pain relief
It made a real difference in my level of pain in my legs.
I really wanted to like the Sidewinder Sandals, but….
I have struggled with plantar fasciitis off and on for a few years, and also have heel pain that’s unrelated to the plantar fasciitis. I ordered the sandals and excitedly waited for them to arrive. Unfortunately, when I tried them on, I realized that the texture of the footbed irritates my feet, and the inserts (helpfully included with each pair of shoes) also irritated my feet. The shoes themselves feel comfortable, and might have worked…if it wasn’t for the texture of the footbed. I’ll be returning them tomorrow.
