Making a real difference in people’s lives through footwear is our overall goal, and we are so happy to do so. Ridding the body of pain is an important step in both the physical and mental health journey. However, there are other ways to work on bettering the body besides becoming pain-free. So, without further ado, here are 6 simple things you can start adding into your life to improve your health.
#1. Eat more fruits and vegetables
We have all heard this one from our parents ever since we were little, but somehow, according to studies, we as a population struggle to consume an adequate amount of fruits and vegetables. If only we knew how essential these super-foods were to our health, maybe then we would eat them like we should. Fruits and veggies contain nutrients and fiber that is all vital to our daily functions as human beings. The suggested amount for adults is 5 to 6 servings of veggies a day and 2 servings of fruit, but if that amount seems overwhelming, start by adding one more serving than you would normally eat, and move up from there.
#2. Prioritize Sleep
The world is busier than ever, and tasks and events take place at what seems like lightning speed these days. Most of this increase in speed is a good thing for the progression of humankind. However, in a world so fast paced, sleep can sometimes be pushed to the backburner of our priorities. But in all reality, sleep should be a major priority. Getting an adequate amount of quality sleep results in a better immune system, lower stress levels, a lower risk of heart disease, and so much more. That sounds like some good motivation to us.
#3. Stop Smoking.
It’s 2021, and this one is about as well known and obvious as any health tip out there by now, but it doesn’t hurt to reiterate. The amount of people who smoke is on the decline worldwide, and it is clear why. Smoking is bad for the lungs, the heart, the throat, the mouth, and pretty much any other part of the body that you can think of. It increases stress levels and shortens lifespans. We know it’s tough, but do yourself a favor and lose the lighter for good.
#4. Add Sunscreen to your Daily Routine
We are all about having fun in the sun here at Z-CoiL, but some of the negative effects of the sun on the human body are not fun at all. Skin cancer, excess wrinkles, and sunspots can develop from over exposure to ultraviolet radiation. Thankfully, there is a simple and easy solution that helps prevent all these issues: sunscreen. While sunscreen is not a comprehensive solution by itself, when combined with other sun-safe behavior, it results in improved skin health.
#5. Destress for 10 minutes
10 minutes is a tiny portion of our day, but sometimes we as busy human beings can go several weeks without hitting the pause button and checking in with our mental health. 10 minutes of mindfulness or meditation each day is all it takes to create benefits within our brains. If meditation isn’t your thing, don’t fear. Even taking a small amount of time out of your day to let your mind unwind can reduce stress and improve overall health. Try doing something creative like painting or singing, or just take a moment and enjoy a hot cup of tea.
#6. Go for a Walk
We would not be a footwear company if we didn’t include this one. In all seriousness, walking is one of the best things you can do for your body. It is beneficial to your physical and mental health in so many ways. A brisk walk boosts feel-good chemicals in the brain, helps with depression and anxiety, and lowers stress hormones. You’ll be shocked at how even a short walk can improve your perspective on life, so put your Z-CoiLs on and change your thinking.
